A note on the process
More than
the final cut.
A little about how this website came together, where AI helped, and the choices I made along the way.
01 / The idea
Why I made this space.
I created After the Credits to explore the things films leave us thinking about, from ambition and isolation to identity and belonging.
I chose the films and themes I wanted to explore, then worked on turning those ideas into articles and a website that felt like my own creative space.
I also used ChatGPT to help brainstorm, refine some writing, and develop parts of the HTML and CSS. It was useful during the process, but I still needed to decide what fit the site and what needed to change.
02 / The workflow
Where AI helped.
I used AI as a supporting tool for a few parts of the project, especially when I needed a starting point or a way to work through a design problem.
Writing and editing
I used AI to brainstorm angles, organise ideas, and improve the flow of some passages. I reviewed the wording and adjusted it to suit the tone I wanted for the journal.
Visual direction
I chose the overall cinematic style, colour direction, film imagery, and layout. AI helped me explore ways to bring those choices into the website.
HTML and CSS
AI helped draft and revise code for page layouts, image effects, and mobile styling. I still needed to add it to WordPress and check how the design appeared.
Research support
AI helped suggest information and references to look into. I treat those suggestions as a starting point, since AI can make mistakes or miss important context.
03 / My role
The decisions behind the page.
The tools helped with the process, but they did not make every decision for me.
Choosing the themes
I decided which films to feature and which questions I wanted each article to explore.
Shaping the final result
I reviewed the suggested wording and design, then decided what to keep, change, or leave out.
Checking the details
Film information, external links, and the published layout need to be checked rather than accepted automatically from an AI response.
04 / Further reading
Sources worth checking.
These official film pages offer additional context for the films discussed on this site. Interpretations in the articles are my readings of the films, not the only possible way to understand them.
After the Credits
The tools help shape the page.
The point of view still matters.
This project is about looking beyond the screen and thinking about what a story means to us. AI was one part of building this space, alongside my choices, revisions, and creative direction.
